Reading to Learn

Cultivating students’ reading habit and enhancing their reading abilities play a crucial role in our school curriculum. Not only can reading help students with their life-long learning, it can also strengthen their critical thinking skills. Hence, we dedicate to building a ‘School of Readers’ aiming that both teachers and students read their favourite books together every day, thus realizing the objectives of ‘enjoying reading and proactive reading’.

The promotion of Reading to Learn includes the following measures:

  • Cultivating students?reading habit by integrating the ‘10- Minute Morning Reading’ in students’ school life
  • Training students to become better readers by facilitating them with various reading skills and techniques
  • Promoting reading award programme at school and encouraging students to take an active role in various extensive reading scheme organized by different parties
  • Organizing diversified reading-related activities such as book-borrowing and reading competitions, book fairs, reading carnivals and reading sharing groups etc.
  • Integrating element of Reading to Learn’ in various key learning areas and  academic domains
  • Stating the reading targets for the students and guiding them to meet the specified reading targets such as the number of books read, evaluation on book reflections etc.
  • Establishing personalized reading log for the students to assess their reading habits and reading progress
