NCSS Chinese Language Education

Learning Chinese may be considered as one of the steps to help Non-Chinese Speaking Students (NCSS) to integrate in the Hong Kong society. In Delia (Hip Wo), Chinese is a compulsory subject for NCSS under the new academic structure. We tailor-make a series of teaching materials based on the current Chinese Language curriculum to suit the needs of our students. Besides, we adopt traditional Chinese characters and Cantonese as the medium of instruction as they are commonly used in Hong Kong. In order to cater the learning diversity, students with different learning abilities and backgrounds are given different teaching materials and are prepared to sit for different public examinations in accordance with their abilities and backgrounds.

To sum up, the aims of the NCSS Chinese Language Education are as follows:

Basic: Equip students with basic Cantonese speaking, listening, reading and writing skills to facilitate their integration in the society.

Intermediate: Furnish students with chances to sit for different examinations, such as General Certificate of Secondary Education (GCSE).

Advanced: Offer Putonghua learning opportunity for students who have better Chinese language foundation and prepare them to sit for the Hong Kong Diploma of Secondary Education (HKDSE).
